The Department of History at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in Latin America and the Caribbean, should an opening arise.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding regular office hours, calculating grades, advising students, preparing course materials, managing GSIs, and attending appropriate meetings/orientations, etc.
UC Lecturers are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.

Qualifications Basic qualifications

A PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.

(by start date) A PhD (or equivalent international degree) is required by the start date. Demonstrated teaching experience is required by the start date.
A PhD (or equivalent international degree) in History, or related field. Demonstrated teaching excellence in the history of Latin America and the Caribbean with undergraduates and, where appropriate, graduate students.
