JOB PURPOSE
The department of History and Islamic Civilization at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to appoint a qualified bilingual faculty at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor specialized to teach in the field of Arabian Gulf Modern & Contemporary History to commence teaching in the Spring semester (January) 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arabian Gulf History, with a focus on modern and contemporary periods. Responsibilities include supervising Master's and PhD theses, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in scholarly research and publication.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures in Arabian Gulf Modern & Contemporary History at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Supervise student research and theses at Master's and PhD levels
- Develop and update course materials and curricula
- Conduct and publish academic research in the field of specialization
- Participate in departmental activities and contribute to academic planning
- Support university and community initiatives
- Assist in accreditation processes and fulfill academic quality requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- PhD in Modern and Contemporary History, with a specialization in Arabian Gulf History
- Minimum of five years of university-level teaching experience
- Proven ability to develop and deliver academic courses
- Proficiency in both English and Arabic for teaching and publication
- Strong academic publication record (English required; Arabic preferred)
- Proficiency in digital tools and platforms (e.g., ICDL certification)
- Graduate of a recognized and reputable university
