The Department of Romance Studies at Tufts University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Francophone Media and Cultural Studies to begin September 1, 2024. Teaching load is 2/2. The successful candidate will teach three courses in French on Francophone cultural studies and media in Romance Studies (their home department), and one course in the affiliated Film and Media Studies program (FMS) in English, ranging from introductory courses to upper-level courses in their area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate will demonstrate an expertise in global Francophone cultural studies and cinema and/or media beyond Europe such as African, Maghreb, Caribbean, Pacific, or Asian traditions; additional focus on diasporic, post-colonial or immigrant Francophone media and cultural studies in a transnational framework encouraged. Applicants must have native or near native command of French and English, demonstrated excellent teaching record, strong commitment to scholarly research, and Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment.
