The
Department of Communication, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, seeks to hire an
Assistant Teaching Professor (official state title: Clinical Assistant Professor) for the Fall 2023 term. The position is for an initial three-year term (with the possibility of renewal) in a non-tenure track position.
The teaching load for this position is 8 courses per academic year (distributed as 5/3 or 4/4) with likely 2 preps per semester. We expect that the courses will be First Year Seminars (COM 199), small-enrollment courses that introduce students both to an academic area of study and to college life. The topics of the seminar courses are flexible according to the candidate’s experience and expertise. For example, seminars could be designed around the topics of social media, persuasion, interpersonal communication, health communication, intercultural communication, or other communication topics.
Candidates should hold an earned doctorate in COM (or related field). Assistant Teaching Professors have instruction as their primary responsibility, but may also participate in service at the department, university and discipline levels.
The faculty in the Department of Communication understand the value and importance of diversity. We are committed to providing an open, supportive, and inclusive environment for all of our students, faculty, and staff members, consistent with the University’s commitment to
