The Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas invites applications for the Bhagwan Adinath Professor of Jain Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor, with an expected starting date of Fall 2021.
Responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate courses in Jainism and other Asian religions, and organizing a public event each semester in coordination with the Jain community of North Texas. The successful candidate will typically teach a 2/2 load, including introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, and graduate courses.
The appointment is in the UNT department of Philosophy and Religion, the leading program in environmental philosophy in the United States. We seek candidates who will complement and add to our department strengths in biocultural conservation, philosophy of water, food ethics, energy ethics, comparative philosophy of religions, and the history of philosophy. The department seeks a dynamic individual who is interested in exploring ways that their area of expertise intersects with contemporary social issues and public debates.
