Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, the Department of History and Global Studies at Marian University-Indianapolis seeks qualified applicants for Visiting Assistant Professor of History beginning August 15, 2025, to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by fostering student learning through innovative pedagogy, inclusive practices, and impactful research projects across the curriculum.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a general education American civics course, U.S. History I and II, Indiana History, and other courses as designated by the Chair of History of Global Studies. Areas expertise is open; however, preference will be given to candidates who bring research and teaching specializations American History. Application are encouraged from people who enjoy working at the boundaries of disciplines, through interdisciplinary teaching and research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
Teaching load: 24 Credit hours.
Share in the ongoing development and implementation of department and college activities and projects.
Mentor students through advising, research, and internship opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D preferred.
MA in History, Global Studies, or equivalent degree required at time of appointment.
Evidence of capacity for effective teaching in higher education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
