    Job Description Summary


    Position: The School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University seeks candidates for a Lecturer position in Communication beginning Fall semester, Aug. 16, 2024. Responsibilities: This is a teaching-intensive position in the undergraduate Communication program. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate is to teach a range of in-person, on-campus sophomore and junior-level communication courses (such as Rhetoric & Social Influence, Argumentation, Conflict Communication, Persuasion, and Advanced Public Speaking) as well as some senior-level courses (such as Political Communication, Legal Communication, Nonverbal Communication), during the Fall and Spring semesters. Supplemental support for summer instruction may be possible depending on need and availability of funding. Candidates should indicate in their cover letters the courses they are qualified to teach. Course descriptions are available online: https://aub.ie/COMMcourses. The full-time, nine-month appointment runs from mid-August to mid-May. The Lecturer will teach four courses per semester and is expected to be an engaged member of the School by serving on committees.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Requirements/Qualifications: A master’s degree in human communication or related degree at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will have a record of high-quality college teaching experience in general communication courses.

    The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required.

     


    Desired Qualifications


    Willingness and demonstrated ability to effectively teach online classes is desired.
