JOB REQUIREMENTS
A Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in English, Communication, Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, with four (4) years of lecturing and/or industrial experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience. Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written. Competence to teach at least three (3) of the following courses: Principles of English Language Use, English in Practice, English for Academic Purposes, Professional Communication, and Professional Writing. Ability to establish professional networks and maintain links with the industry, as well as experience in developing undergraduate programmes. A credible record of lecturing, peer-reviewed publications, community engagement, and supervision of undergraduate research students and a relevant Doctorate will be an advantage.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Deliver effective and high-quality teaching, learning experiences, and assessments; supervise student research projects; contribute to departmental administration and governance, actively participate in curriculum development and review processes; engage in research activities and develop a robust portfolio of publications; participate in relevant departmental, faculty, and university committees to support institutional goals; assist in the selection and registration of students, ensuring alignment with academic standards; provide capacity-building services to the community, fostering outreach and engagement and fulfil any additional reasonable tasks and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.
