She is co-author of two textbooks: PATHWAYS: A TEXT FOR DEVELOPING WRITERS (Macmillan and Allyn & Bacon) and HERITAGE: AFRICAN AMERICAN READINGS FOR WRITING (Prentice-Hall). Dr. Jarrett is especially interested in therapeutic writing (using literature and writing as forms of empowerment) and in studying literature produced during the Civil Rights Movement. She is currently writing a book that chronicles her internal struggles during the turbulent years of Civil Rights Movement in her hometown of Meridian, MS.
