Tristan Lay’s research interests include various areas of Sprachlehrforschung, Methodology and Didactics of Foreign Languages, German as a Foreign/Second Language, Audio-visual Language Learning via film/music, as well as Multiple Language Acquisition and Learning. His recent research and writing interest concentrates on Gerhard Richter’s painting in the context of teaching and learning German and Places of Remembrance (Erinnerungsorte).
He has published widely on various topics concerning foreign language research in renowned book series and journals such as Multilingualism and Multiple Language Acquisition and Learning, Materialien Deutsch als Fremdsprache (Mat DaF), German as a Foreign Language (GFL-Journal), Informationen Deutsch als Fremdsprache (Info DaF), Zeitschrift für Interkulturellen Fremdsprachenunterricht (ZIF) etc.
He is the co-author of Bamberg – Kaleidoskop einer fränkischen Stadt / Bamberg – Kaleidoscope of a Franconian city (in conjunction with Armin Gertz and Marion Then). This book is used in regular seminars at the University of Bamberg.
