Expertise: Research interests are in philosophy of mind, Wittgenstein, contemporary German philosophy, philosophical hermeneutics, medieval philosophy (especially Meister Eckhart), and issues of academic freedom and tolerance. He has taught courses in all of these areas, and also in the history of philosophy. Having recently spent ten years in the College administration, he has returned to Dewey Hall and is now teaching full-time.
