    Position Summary


    The Department of Engineering Education (DEE) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Teaching (Lecturer) in Technical Communication, a non-tenure track lecturer position. The candidate will join a growing team of technical and professional communication teacher-scholars, who contribute to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Department of Engineering Education through teaching undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on effective and just communication within STEM elds.

    Assistant Professors of Teaching who specialize in technical communication typically:

    Have a 4/4 teaching load (spring and fall semesters)
    Formulate and implement student excellence initiatives, ABET objectives, and diversity enhancement
    Assist in the analysis of student academic progress and retention
    Contribute to assessment activities
    Engage in professional development to stay updated on emerging technologies and communication strategies.


    Candidates must be committed to engaging in local, regional, and national professional development and possess a strong, genuine interest in general education instruction and assessment.

    The selected candidate might have the opportunity to develop and teach undergraduate or graduate courses as the department grows. In addition to effective teachers, the Department of Engineering Education seeks teacher-scholars who can contribute to new programmatic initiatives and teaching practices. Participation in innovative research is encouraged.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must hold a masters degree in Rhetoric, Writing, Technical Communication, or a related eld. All academic requirements for the masters degree must be completed prior to appointment.


    Preferred Qualifications

    PhD in Rhetoric, Writing, Technical Communication, or a related field.
