    Position overview


    Position title: Non-senate Lecturer
    Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale for this position: [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/july-2024-scales/t15.pdf]. A reasonable estimate for full-time Lecturer positions is $68,247 -$94,470 .

    Percent time: 33-100%

    Anticipated start: January 1, 2025. Positions usually start at the beginning of the semester (in mid-January for Spring Semester; in mid-August for Fall Semester). Summer appointments begin in late May and run into early August. UC Berkeley's academic calendar can be viewed at {http://registrar.berkeley.edu/calendar].

    Review timeline: Appointments for fall semester are usually reviewed in April and May, and in October and November for spring course needs, and summer course needs in March and April, and on an as-needed basis.

    Position description

    The Center for Jewish Studies in the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses as needed in the areas of (but not limited to), Jewish history, culture, languages, arts, or other topics in Jewish Studies.     The Center is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching and those who share our core values.

    General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), maintaining a course website, and participation in programs and events in the Center.

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    Minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is completion of at least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) by time of application.

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
    For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US Visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

    • Previous teaching experience.

    • Master's degree.
