    The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to begin January 1, 2025. The selected candidate will be appointed to a 9-month, non-tenure eligible faculty position for an initial two-year period that has the potential for renewal and for promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years. The successful candidate will teach eight courses per year (four per semester) at the undergraduate level. Other duties will include some graduate mentoring and departmental service. The area of specialization (AOS) and the area of competence (AOC) are open. The specific teaching assignment will depend on the candidate’s interests, but the department has particular needs in a variety of introductory and applied ethics courses, such as: Introduction to Philosophy - Knowledge and Reality, Introduction to Philosophy - Morality and Society, Introductory Logic, Food Ethics, Health Care Ethics, Business Ethics, Environmental Ethics, and Philosophy of Human Nature. The UK philosophy department is a pluralistic department open to a range of approaches in philosophy.

     

    A PhD in Philosophy is required.
