The Department of History at the University of North Texas invites applications for multiple one-year lecturer positions in United States history to begin in fall 2022. We seek candidates who are dynamic and creative teachers, committed to mentoring and educating our large and diverse community of students.
Responsibilities include teaching high-enrollment U.S. history survey courses; teaching upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization; and performing departmental service.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in some aspect of the history of race, ethnicity, indigeneity, and/ or gender and sexuality. Otherwise, the area of specialization for this search is open. Our committee is searching for candidates who will bring innovative approaches to the study of American history and will contribute to our department’s mission of inclusivity in historical education.
The ideal candidates will join a vibrant history department at an R1 university and have the opportunity to participate in a number of interdisciplinary programs and initiatives.
We anticipate several Lecturer openings in the Fall of 2022. As openings arise, we will actively source candidates from this applicant pool. An offer of employment for this position will be made dependent upon available funding.
