The Department of International Studies at American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates seeks to hire a full-time open-rank visiting position in Philosophy starting on August 13, 2023. The department will conduct a search for a full-time rolling-track position in philosophy in Fall 2023 pending budgetary approval. Any candidates who are applying for the current visiting position will not be precluded from applying for the full-time rolling-track position. Areas of specialization and competence are open. Candidates must be able to teach a range of introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in their fields.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in Philosophy at the time of appointment, a record of excellent teaching, an active research agenda, and be willing and able to move to the UAE by August 13, 2023. The regular teaching load is three courses per semester.
As a university formed on the American model and with English as the language of instruction, American University of Sharjah will give priority to candidates who have substantial experience in American models of higher education.
