Lecturer Pool - Department of Scandinavian

The Department of Scandinavian at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses, should a need arise, in any of the following possible areas:

  • Danish Language
  • Modern Icelandic Language
  • Finnish Language
  • Norwegian Language
  • Swedish Language
  • Reading and Composition (first- and second-year university writing courses using Scandinavian materials in translation)
  • Various upper-division special topics courses on Nordic literature, cultural history, folklore, and film

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.

UC Lecturers are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.
