The Department of Religion at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach Introduction to Judaism in the fall of 2023 and an additional course on Judaism in the spring of 2024 in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Introduction to Judaism is a survey course that introduces students to Judaism as a diverse textual tradition and lived religion, with a focus on beliefs, ethics, and rituals. Topics may include contemporary Jewish communities from a global perspective; Hebrew Bible; rabbinic literature; medieval and modern theology and mysticism; social forms, law, and practice. The class is scheduled to meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30-5:45pm. Expected enrollment is 30 students.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with college-level teaching experience; a Ph.D. or ABD candidate status in Religion or Judaic Studies is preferred, but those with PhDs in related fields are also encouraged to apply.
