The Department of English strives to promote a greater understanding of literature and culture; to add to literary tradition by fostering new works of poetry, fiction and nonfiction; to innovate in writing instruction; and to investigate the history of persuasive writing. Ours is diverse faculty, committed to teaching and mentoring students from UNT’s rapidly changing student demographic.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Lecturer in English. This position is full-time, comes with a competitive salary, and includes benefits. Responsibilities for the position include teaching four courses each semester in first-year writing to a diverse student population.
MFA or PhD in English or a related field. Demonstrated excellence in first-year writing instruction. Preparedness to teach at a Minority-Serving and Hispanic-Serving institution, and evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching diverse student populations. We also value experience in critical pedagogy, information literacy, and online instruction.
