The primary purpose of this position is to advise distance learning students and to teach courses in the Liberal Studies Department. Many distance learning students are non-traditional, working adults who need assistance transitioning back into academic life after several years of absence. Potential and current distance learning students have questions about the degree options in Liberal Studies, courses and registration, University policies, campus resources, their status toward degree completion, graduation and career possibilities. The Lecturer will coordinate and liaise with other units of the University to ensure seamless registration, enrollment and academic support, as well as teach courses within the Liberal Studies Department.
PhD in Cultural Studies, Global Studies, African American Studies, or related humanities or social science field.
Demonstrated commitment to working with adult learners and continuing professional education.
Demonstrated experience in teaching in higher education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Experience with program development and implementation.
Understanding of prior learning assessment tools.
Three years of work experience in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated experience teaching online in a higher education setting.
One or more years of higher education administration experience.
