The Department of Classical Studies at Tufts University is seeking applicants for a part-time Lectureship beginning January 1, 2023 (semester commences January 18). Teaching responsibilities for this position will consist of three courses during the 2023 spring semester. The department seeks Classicists in any field of specialization with innovative and thoughtful approaches to teaching that will engage the broadest range of students in the study of the Ancient World. We are particularly interested in courses that include a reflection on gender, race, feminism, social justice, or the environment, so as to invite interdisciplinary engagement with other fields, expand the academic horizons within the department, and attract students to the study of Antiquity. Candidates should also be prepared to teach Latin and Greek at all level as well as introductory courses in history and literature as needed by the department.

 

Qualifications

A Ph.D. by January 1, 2023 is preferred; ABD will be considered. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with traditionally underrepresented students, including students of color, and advance in their teaching Tufts University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
