The Frank W. & Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas in Denton invites applications for a full-time, innovative creative director and Assistant Professor of Practice position in our advertising sequence, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2022.Assistant professor of practice, associate professor of practice and professor of practice are non-tenured faculty members who have particular expertise in given areas based on experience and education in addition to or in place of academic credentials. Duties may include teaching, research, and/or service. A master’s degree is preferred for this position, but not required.We seek an energetic colleague with expertise in designing and implementing multicultural advertising campaigns across platforms and who is committed to advancing industry practices related to authenticity, representation, and social justice.

The successful candidate will lead our incredible student-run advertising agency, https://www.swoopagency.com/SWOOP, and should be prepared to also teach visual design and foundational advertising courses. This is a unique academic position offering engagement in hands-on, experiential work with students, team management, and campaign creation for real-world clients. There are opportunities to shape the future of our advertising sequence and we invite candidates who are enthusiastic about collaboration with existing faculty to advance the current curriculum. In addition to teaching courses, the faculty member will serve on committees and be engaged in departmental activities. Candidates who are committed to mentoring historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and/or first-generation college students are especially encouraged to apply.
