Description

The Fletcher School, established in 1933 as the first exclusively graduate school of international affairs in the United States, seeks to hire a full-time tenure-track faculty position to fill the Kim Koo Chair in Korean Studies beginning in September 2023. Applications are encouraged from junior scholars in political science, history, and other social science disciplines.  Preference will be given to scholars who have wider expertise in the international relations, comparative politics, and/or political economy of East Asia.

The Fletcher School’s faculty is multi-disciplinary with a focus on preparing tomorrow’s leaders with a global perspective. The School undertakes research and prepares masters and doctoral students to use the latest political, business, economic, and legal thinking, among others, to generate pragmatic policies or make executive decisions that will successfully shape global events. Tufts University is a world-renowned research university dedicated to the creation and application of knowledge.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g. political science, history) and demonstrate the potential for outstanding scholarship in the politics of Northeast Asia.  Teaching experience at the graduate level is valued.

Application Instructions

Candidates should submit a cover letter, a research research and teaching statement, including concrete descriptions of current and future plans for research as well as their particular interest in the position at The Fletcher School, curriculum vitae, list of at least three references, and previous student evaluations.  A diversity statement should also be included that addresses how you foster an equitable and inclusive learning and research environment.  The search committee will begin reviewing applications on October 1, 2022 and will continue reviewing until the position is filled.  Applicants from under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.

Inquiries about the position should be addressed to search committee chair Professor Daniel Drezner (daniel.drezner@tufts.edu).

All offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a background check and meeting the University’s current COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Tufts University has also committed to becoming an anti-racist institution and prides itself on the continuous improvement of diversity, equity and inclusion work. Current and prospective employees of the university are expected to have and continuously develop skill in, and disposition for, positively engaging with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
