School of Communication, Media and Journalism

*Public Relations *- to teach courses in Public Relations; Public Relations Writing; Public Relations Campaigns; special topics; and advanced courses in this field. Additional teaching assignments will include other courses based on the school’s need and candidate’s expertise. Other responsibilities will include research, service and advising.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Communication or a closely related field or a Master’s degree with appropriate professional experience in public relations; experience using various media platforms; and experience teaching and advising students of diverse backgrounds is required. APRs with considerable professional experience in public relations, experience using various media platforms and experience teaching may also apply.

Positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor effective for the Fall 2022 semester, unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for graduate course assignments.

All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity.  Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required.  Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
