Assistant or Associate Professor with Specialization in Sexuality Studies

The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for an assistant or associate professor in the field of sexuality studies. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar and are particularly interested in scholars who employ mixed methods and work in one or more of the following areas: indigeneity, sexuality and the state, legal studies, science studies, or countries outside of the United States.
The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis has strengths in African American studies, queer of color critique, and health, and we are interested in a scholar who can add new areas of study to the department while complementing existing strengths. The duties of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; conducting research and other scholarly activities and performing departmental and university service and other duties assigned by the University. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester. Diversity and inclusion are core values of Washington University, and our aim is to create inclusive classrooms and environments in which a diverse array of students learn and thrive.
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to teach required core courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in feminist theory or queer theory. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by June 30, 2025. Candidates for the rank of associate professor should have an outstanding academic record of research, publication, teaching, and service commensurate with tenure at that rank.
