The Department of Transnational Studies (housing degree programs in American Studies and African and African American Studies) is seeking to make an appointment to its faculty at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor to bring dynamism and discipline-appropriate methods to the teaching of two new courses that are part of the university’s writing-across-the-curriculum initiative. The courses, "Writing Across Cultures" and "Writing Human and Social Diversity," are designed for diverse learners from a variety of disciplines, with a high potential for significant numbers of multilingual students. We seek candidates with broad training in the humanities, social sciences, education or related fields who can work in an interdisciplinary setting and are sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. The teaching load is 4 sections of these courses or the equivalent per semester, with the opportunity to teach other courses in the department commensurate with qualifications. This is a non-tenure track position with an academic-year (10-month) commitment. Ph.D. in hand preferred; ABDs and other relevant terminal degrees considered. Relevant post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
