Description
The Center for Chinese Studies at UC Berkeley is pleased to invite applications for a one-year full-time postdoctoral fellowship. The term of the appointment is August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021.

The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to be in residence during the entire term. They will give a public lecture on their research as part of the Center for Chinese Studies Colloquium Series, and they are expected to take part in all regular Center for Chinese Studies events and workshops. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the intellectual life of the Center, for example, serving as moderator or discussant for lectures. The Fellow will be provided with office space, library privileges and a salary that starts at $50,760, plus benefits, but may vary depending on experience.

Only complete applications will be considered. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all documentation is complete and that referees submit their letters of recommendation by the final date. The award will be announced in late March 2020.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
At the time of application, the basic minimum qualification is the completion of all PhD degree (or equivalent international degree) requirements except the dissertation.

Additional Qualifications:
Applicants must have their doctoral degree (or equivalent international degree) in hand by August 1, 2020, and must have no more than four years of post-PhD research experience, or have held a tenure-track appointment, prior to the appointment start date. Candidates who do not yet hold a Ph.D. but expect to by August 1, 2020, should supply a letter from their home institution confirming their schedule to completion. A certified copy of their Ph.D. certificate is required before the appointment can go into effect.

Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD or equivalent international degree in Chinese Studies or closely related field.
