The Department of History at the University of Utah seeks to appoint a tenure-line Assistant Professor in the History of the Ancient Mediterranean World. We seek candidates whose research focuses on the environment, science, medicine, and/or technology; who use digital humanities methodologies; and/or whose scholarship has the potential to reach beyond the Humanities to make connections with the university’s professional schools or programs in the social, behavioral, and physical sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to research and to research-informed teaching at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including upper-division courses on the history of both the Ancient Greek and Roman worlds and Western Civilization to 1300, as well as to contribute to the teaching of an undergraduate course in historical methodology.
