Assistant Professor, Strategic Communications
Penn State Harrisburg, School of Humanities, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Strategic Communications at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in August 2020. The successful candidate will teach in the Bachelor of Arts in Communications (B.A. COMM) and the Master of Arts in Communications (M.A. COMMS) programs. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in communications or a related field by the time of application and must provide evidence of a successful and impactful research and/or creative production agenda - e.g., published works (articles, books), exhibitions, media installations, etc. - and demonstrable potential for future excellence. The School seeks a student-oriented colleague specializing in strategic communications, with an emphasis on digital media. The successful candidate should have a strong foundation in relevant communication theory and will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in writing, campaign management, content production in digital media environments, and media analytics. Residential teaching experience and interdisciplinary collaboration are required. Industry experience and online teaching are preferred, but not required. All candidates are required to demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching.
