The University at Buffalo invites applications for a full-time, clinical assistant professor (10-month) position in Italian language instruction (3-3) and program administration. In addition, the incumbent will teach one 1-credit Italian transfer seminar and/or 1-credit intermediate recitation per academic year. Program administrative support responsibilities (1-1) will include:
- Coordination of the Italian Language program (including student advisement and retention, PLACE exams for language placement, evaluating credit transfer from other institutions, instructional oversight and coordination of Italian adjunct instructors at all levels for exams and graded oral interviews, textbooks, teaching materials, remote learning and computer-assisted instruction initiatives)
- Planning and implementation of strategic initiatives in experiential learning, including study abroad programs in Italy
- Service on College of Arts and Sciences Language Study Committee and Departmental Undergraduate Studies Committee
- Additional Language Coordination duties for RLL’s French section, especially observation of graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) instructors
The position will begin in the 2021-2022 academic year. There is no research obligation. The position offers a competitive clinical faculty salary and state employee benefits.
This is a two-year, non tenure-track position with the possibility of renewal based on performance, available funding, and College need.
