The
Department of Comparative Literature at the University at Buffalo seeks to appoint a
Visiting Assistant Professor for fall 2023. The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise in French and German philosophy, with specific expertise in phenomenology and post-phenomenology (Husserl, Heidegger, Bergson, Sartre, Derrida, Deleuze). Additional areas of interest/expertise include Latin American philosophy, European and Latin American modernist literatures in English, French, German, and Spanish. The successful candidate will be able to teach in English, French, and Spanish in order to support the undergraduate and graduate missions of the Departments of Comparative Literature and Romance Languages and Literatures.
Teaching load is 2/2, distributed between general education undergraduate seminars taught in English, literature courses in French and Spanish, and graduate seminars. The successful candidate will assist in the development of a Latin American Philosophy Program for both undergraduates and graduates. This is a limited three-year term position and is reviewed on an annual basis for renewal.
