Wenzhou-Kean University is seeking faculty from all disciplines for its location in Wenzhou, China. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and just over three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai. Launched in 2012, Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and is now in the midst of a growth phase that will bring enrollment to more than 5,000 students. WKU offers a unique model of higher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public New Jersey State University, is approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean USA.

Wenzhou-Kean University programs comprise the following majors: English in Global Settings (B.A.); Finance (B.S.); Accounting (with emphasis on international standards and practices) (B.S.); Global Business (B.S.); Marketing (B.S.); Management (Entrepreneurship Option and Supply Chain Management Option) (B.S.); Graphic Design (B.F.A.); Interior Design (B.F.A); Industrial Design (B.I.D.); Architecture (B.A.); Computer Science (B.S.); Mathematics (Data Analytics Option) (B.A.); Biology/Cell & Molecular (B.S.); Environmental Science (B.S.); Psychology (B.A.); and Public Relations (B.A.). In addition, Wenzhou-Kean has a substantial commitment to the teaching of ESL/EFL.

All faculty positions are full-time assignments, effective for the start of the fall 2019 semester. Positions will be offered at either the tenure-track or Lecturer level. Tenure-track appointments are available at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, where indicated, and require teaching assignments; student and learning support services; advising; service to the university and/or professional community; and research and publication. A Lecturer is a full-time employee who teaches and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. Ten-month lecturers teach 30 credits per academic year; twelve-month lecturers teach up to 39 credits per year. Lecturers teach; provide student and learning support services; service to the university and/or professional community; and perform related work as required. Lecturer positions are non-tenure track and may be renewed on an annual basis. All faculty at Wenzhou-Kean University will be paid by WKU, with salaries and benefits comparable to faculty at Kean USA, plus travel and housing allowances.

Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. All faculty may be required to teach General Education courses as needed. Opportunities are also available to teach disciplinary support courses. Candidates with an interest in teaching across disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: A Doctorate degree is required in the relevant or a related field for tenure-track positions; ABD considered with completion prior to the effective date of employment. A terminal degree is required for tenure-track positions in Design and Architecture. A Master’s degree in a related field is required for Lecturer positions. A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level and English fluency is required for all positions.

English: Rhetoric & Composition; Business, Professional and Technical Writing; ESL/EFL; TESL/TEFL; World Literature; Translation/Interpretation – to teach a combination of (1) general ESL/EFL classes, (2) First-Year Composition classes, (3) World Literature, (4) translation and interpretation (5) writing/rhetoric, linguistics and EFL/ESL methods and teaching techniques within the English in Global Settings major.
