Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. A reasonable estimated full-time salary range for this position is $68,247-$112,802.

Percent time: Appointments may be part-time and may range between 33% to 50% per course, depending on teaching responsibilities.

Anticipated start: Spring 2025 and/or Summer 2025

Review timeline: Appointments for the fall semester are usually reviewed in May, for the spring semester in November, and for Summer in April.

Position description

The Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified non-tenure track lecturers to teach Linguistics courses should an opening arise.

Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding lecturers capable of teaching one or more courses in the undergraduate Linguistics curriculum. Courses will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

General duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include, but are not limited to, holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing and developing course materials (e.g., syllabus, exams, quizzes, etc.), supervising GSIs, maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system (e.g. bCourses (Canvas) site).

You must be eligible to work in the United States. Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program at time of application.

Advanced degree by start date.

Preferred qualifications
PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Linguistics and demonstrated excellence in teaching courses at the college level. Prior experience teaching courses on these topics.
