Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, the Department of History and Global Studies at Marian University-Indianapolis seeks qualified applicants for visiting assistant professor in history position beginning August 12, 2024. Contingent on enrollment and departmental need, this is a renewable position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory history courses, a general education American civics course, and an interdisciplinary course on global perspectives that is framed around Model United Nations. Area expertise is open; however, preference will be given to candidates who bring research and teaching specializations in legal, Indigenous, and/or Asian histories. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching load: 5/5/2
  • Support Model United Nations programing.
  • Share in the ongoing development and implementation of department and college activities and projects.
  • Mentor students through advising, research, and internship opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. preferred.
  • MA in History, Global Studies, or equivalent degree required at time of appointment.
  • Evidence of capacity for effective teaching in higher education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Spanish or Kiswahili proficiency highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
