Ball State University’s Department of English is accepting applications for a tenure track position available August 2019. We are seeking an Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition to contribute to our graduate programs (MA and PhD), our undergraduate major in Rhetoric and Writing, and our undergraduate minor in Professional Writing and Emerging Media. Responsibilities include teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses in Rhetoric and Composition, keeping abreast of scholarly developments and incorporating them into teaching, engaging in scholarly research, publication and professional development in Rhetoric and Composition sufficient to attain and maintain graduate faculty status, actively contributing to the intellectual and professional life of the English Department, the university, and surrounding community.
Minimum qualifications: Earned PhD from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Rhetoric & Composition or Professional Writing by date of appointment, record of scholarship in rhetoric and composition or professional writing demonstrated by at least two refereed publications either in print or accepted for publication, and at least six semesters of part-time or full-time college teaching experience obtained concurrently or at any time.

Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience in professional writing; and/or graduate teaching experience in Rhetoric and Composition; and/or experience as a professional writer in a corporate or non-profit setting.
