Position Summary
The Department of English at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is accepting applications for Postdoctoral Associates in Undergraduate Writing and Composition positions. These are part-time (.80 FTE) temporary positions with an academic-year (10-month obligation). These are non-renewable two-year appointments. Incumbents will have a 2-2 teaching load consisting of ENG 105 and a range of CL2 courses and have devoted time for independent scholarship. Postdoctoral Associates will be mentored and provided with professional development in writing instruction. Depending on staffing and program needs, that teaching load may be met with administrative and mentoring duties substituting for a section of teaching. The 10-month salary for this part-time appointment is $30,000. Information on benefits for part-time employees is available here:

Minimum Qualifications
PhD in English or related field in hand by time of appointment and conferred within the last year (spring 2019 or later). Experience teaching undergraduate writing and composition courses required.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Conferred PhD from the University at Buffalo.
  • Direct experience teaching introductory Writing and Rhetoric.
  • Familiar with the use of and principles behind Eli Review in First-Year Writing.
