The primary functions of this year long position include developing and covering a "social justice and identity" beat in the WNIJ listening area.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
Research, report and write radio and digital stories and social media; conduct interviews; record audio features; produce stories,; build sources; works with News Director
Minimum Required Qualifications for this position
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
1. Any one or any combination of the following types of preparation:
(a) credit for college course work leading to a major in radio/television or closely related fields
(b) vocational training in radio and/or television production and/or announcing or closely related fields
© progressively more responsible work experience in the production and presentation of radio and/or television programs that totals 1.0 unit according to the following conversion rates:
120 semester hours (or Bachelor ‘s degree) of "a" = 1.0 unit
18 months of "b" = 0.5 unit maximum*
3 years of "c"= 1.0 unit
Amounts of training or experience less than those listed above should be converted to decimal equivalents of 1.0 unit and added together when computing combinations of the different types of preparation.
2. one year of work experience in the production and presentation of radio and/or television programs, in addition to the preparation required in #1 above
Education and Experience Preferred
Postsecondary degree preferred; experience at NPR station preferred
