The Lyon College Religion and Philosophy Program invites applications for a two-year full-time appointment of visiting assistant professor of philosophy beginning spring of 2020, with the possibility of contract extension. We are looking for a candidate who has familiarity with and strong commitment to the liberal arts. Specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary background and interests, who are capable of teaching philosophy courses addressing gender, race, class, sexual orientation, from the perspective of non-western and western philosophical traditions. As part of a small Religion and Philosophy program, the visiting professor will be teaching introductory courses that meet core liberal arts requirements in religion and philosophy (such as World Philosophies and World Religions) as well as upper level courses in philosophy for the Religion and Philosophy major. The teaching load is seven courses per academic year. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. and possess some teaching experience and peer-reviewed publications.
