Department Summary
The Department of English strives to promote a greater understanding of literature and culture; to add to literary tradition by fostering new works of poetry, fiction and nonfiction; to innovate in writing instruction; and to investigate the history of persuasive writing. Ours is diverse faculty, committed to teaching and mentoring students from UNT’s rapidly changing student demographic.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
Lecturer in English. This position is full-time, renewable, comes with a competitive salary, and includes benefits. Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester, in first-year writing and English, to a diverse student population.
Minimum Qualifications
MFA or PhD in English or associated field. Strong teaching experience. Candidate should be prepared to teach upper-division undergraduate classes in literature. Preparedness to teach at a Minority-Serving and Hispanic-Serving institution, and evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications
WPA experience, writing center experience, experience teaching online, developmental writing, ethnic literature.
