Two Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Positions

The Department of Philosophy at Baylor University seeks to make two appointments, each at the assistant professor level, area of specialization open.

For the first position, the Dept especially welcomes applicants with an AOS in one or more of the following areas: epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, philosophy of action, or the history of these areas.

For the second position, the Dept especially welcomes applicants with an AOS in one or more of the following areas: aesthetics, ethical theory, moral and social philosophy, philosophy of history and culture, or the history of these areas.

In each case applications are welcome from philosophers working in different traditions and approaches: analytical, phenomenological, hermeneutical, etc. For both positions a serious interest and competence in the history of philosophy is desirable.

Candidates should possess an earned doctorate in the appropriate field of study. Candidates will be asked to provide a letter of interest; curriculum vitae; official transcripts showing highest degree conferred (if ABD, also submit official transcript of completed Ph.D. hours), a writing sample, and a list of three references in the application process. The letter of application should respond to Baylor’s mission statement, and include an account of the applicant’s religious commitments, and the relationship between those commitments and the applicant’s work as a teacher and scholar.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
