Job Description Summary
The Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor in Spanish, starting Fall Semester 2024. This position has a 3-2 teaching load and will include instruction of undergraduate and graduate students in Spanish language and culture.
Minimum Qualifications
Required qualifications: The successful candidate for this position must have a PhD in Spanish or closely related field at time employment begins with strong desire for 18th and 19th century peninsular literature. Candidate should also have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Must be able and willing to teach graduate literature courses in both areas indicated above as well as Literary Theory and all levels of undergraduate Spanish, including Business Spanish, Spanish Culture, Hispanic Civilization, and Literature. Applicants must provide evidence of teaching excellence at the college level and of potential for successful research and scholarly/professional activities. A deep awareness of effective language pedagogies and innovative course curricula is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Spanish program and to participate in extra-curricular activities.
The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Desired Qualifications
Teaching experience at the college level in the US, positive teaching evaluations, and familiarity with current language pedagogy.
