Department of History, Kean Ocean Campus
Lecturer 12 Months
History - The successful candidate will lead the History program at our Kean Ocean campus in Toms River, NJ, and offer courses in American History with the ability to offer courses in non-western regions. The successful candidate will also coordinate and act as the advisor to the History and History/Pre-Law program at Kean Ocean.
While based at the Kean Ocean campus location, the candidate will participate in the intellectual life of the Department of History at Kean's Union campus. Members of the department embody the teacher-scholar model, matching rigorous research with dedication to teaching. The successful candidate will contribute to both Kean University’s efforts to grow opportunities for undergraduate research and the Department of History’s public-facing commitment to social justice.
This is a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position effective for the Fall 2023 semester. Teaching assignments may be assigned at any of Kean’s New Jersey locations - Union, Ocean, Princeton, Skylands or for Kean Online and may include day, evening and weekend courses. The primary location for this position is at the Kean Ocean campus, in Toms River, New Jersey.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in History or a related field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. A PhD is preferred.
Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
