The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Skidmore College, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Religious Studies.

This is a two year position, beginning Fall 2010, with possibility of subsequent renewal.

AOS: Open; AOC: Open, but with proven ability to teach Islam.

The successful candidate will teach six courses per year. These will include intermediate and advanced courses in candidate's area(s) of expertise, Introduction to Religious Studies and theory and method. Some Undergraduate advising and thesis supervision is also expected.

The Department emphasizes lively and engaging teaching. Also highly valued are a commitment to the goals of Liberal Arts Education and an enthusiasm for interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and research.

Ph.D. expected by August 31, 2010.
