Southwestern University, a nationally ranked liberal arts college in the Austin metro area, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, to begin in Fall 2010, in Modern European History, with a preference for France and the French colonial world, excluding Britain.
The successful applicant will teach the Modern European survey, a course in world or trans-regional history and thematic courses related to her or his specializations.
The History Department is wide-ranging in its geographical coverage and interests and its six members participate in several interdisciplinary programs, including Environmental, Feminist, International and Latin American Studies.
Qualifications include Ph.D. completed by time of appointment.
Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Successful teaching experience is highly desirable, as is an active research program.
