    Associate Director of the First-year Writing Program/Lecturer (Open Rank)
    The Department of English at the University of North Texas invites applications for an Associate Director of the First-year Writing Program. This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment in the Department of English. Depending on relevant experience, the successful candidate may be appointed as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Principal Lecturer. The UNT English department offers a BA with a Concentration in Rhetoric and Writing as well as MA and PhD degrees in English.

    Teaching load is negotiated with the department, but typically the Associate Director will teach two courses per long semester. The Associate Director will receive 1.5 months of summer salary. The appointment will begin Fall 2018.

    1. Support all operations of the UNT Writing Program, which include: professional development event planning and delivery, community event planning and delivery, curriculum development and revision, course scheduling, observing and mentoring graduate teaching fellows, accreditation reporting, and managing the program's digital profile.
    2. Teach undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester in the Department of English.
    3. Engage in service at the department, college, university, and national levels.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    (1) Earned doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition Studies or closely related field by start of appointment. Training in writing program administration and demonstrated knowledge of best practices in the field.
    (2) Demonstrable excellence in teaching college writing and/or undergraduate rhetoric and writing courses.
    (3) Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
