Early career PhDs wanted for hazardous journey. Hard problems, high elevations, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return to academia doubtful. Honour, impact, and recognition in event of success.

ABOUT THE SANTA FE INSTITUTE: SFI was founded 35 years ago by a cross-disciplinary mix of leading scholars, including Nobel Laureates Murray Gell-Mann (Physics), Kenneth Arrow (Economics), Manfred Eigen (Chemistry) and Phil Anderson (Physics). Today, we are the world’s leading center for complexity science research. Rolling Stone magazine called us "a sort of Justice League of renegade geeks, where teams of scientists from disparate fields study the Big Questions." The journal Nature called us "That mecca of multi-disciplinary complexity studies." Novelist Cormac McCarthy’s more poetic reflections on the Institute be found here: https://www.santafe.edu/cormac

ABOUT THE TRANSLATIONAL FELLOWS PROGRAM: The Translational Fellows Program is an experiment. This new two-year program focuses on bridging the gap between the theoretical development of complexity science and its application. Translational Fellows will divide their time at SFI between three distinct activities. First, they will immerse themselves in the study of complexity science at the Institute. Second, they will collaborate closely with key decision makers drawn from SFI’s Applied Complexity Network and Board of Trustees to explore the potential for applied complexity science outside of academia. Finally, fellows will lead a project whose outcome is the demonstrable adoption of complexity insights by the Institute’s partners or constituents. The Translational Fellows Program is ideal for those wishing to become leaders in applied complexity science outside of the traditional academic environment.

The application processes is open to individuals of all disciplinary backgrounds. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Applications completed by March 17, 2019 will receive the fullest consideration. To learn more, or to apply, please visit us online: https://www.santafe.edu/tfapply

  • The Santa Fe Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We actively seek and encourage applications from minorities, women, veterans and people with disabilities.
