Position Summary

The Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies, Villanova University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Japanese (continuing, full time, non-tenure track) to teach undergraduate courses beginning in Fall 2018.

Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in Japanese literature or a Japanese cultural specialty such as Japanese film/media studies, anime, pop culture, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching, be able to teach Japanese language courses at upper levels, as well as offer courses in his/her specialty. Although active research and publication record is not required as a condition of employment, candidates with demonstrable research interests in their specialization are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the Japanese Language and Culture program.



Minimum Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English are required. Candidates should have Ph.D in hand, but applicants close to completing their degree will be considereddegree must be completed by August 1, 2018.
