The Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures & Cultures at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Second Language Acquisition to begin August 2017. The successful applicant’s tenure home will be in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures & Cultures, a dynamic academic unit committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue among faculty with diverse geographical interests, theoretical concerns, and methodological approaches. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition by the time the appointment begins.

Responsibilities of the position include pursuing an active research program on some aspect of SLA and teaching Chinese language courses. Superior proficiency on the ACTFL scale on the basis of an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) is required. The teaching load is 2/2; the candidate would contribute three courses a year to our teacher education programs (English as a Second Language and World Languages, including one dedicated to training international Masters’ students), and one course in the language of specialty or for department teaching assistants.
