Clinical Faculty - Anthropology

The Department of Sociology & Anthropology invites applications for a clinical faculty who will teach courses in anthropology with an emphasis on historical archaeology. This position will teach foundational courses in the department including a four-field introduction to anthropology class and potentially contribute to Idaho's first-year Integrated Seminar (ISEM) courses. Additionally, teaching and research interests should focus on western North America and one or more of the following areas: cultural resources management, cultural heritage studies, or public archaeology. This position is also expected to regularly lead field schools for students and actively pursue grant and contracting opportunities. This position may also contribute to the American Indian Studies minor and the development of the Africana Studies program.
This multi-year clinical position could potentially have the option to renew as a tenure track appointment, if funding is available and if the position continues to meet the needs of the department. Multi-year contracts are not subject to automatic renewal, although, they may be renewed at the discretion of the hiring unit, subject to satisfactory annual performance and applicable Regent and University policies.
Ph.D. in Anthropology (candidates who are ABD will also be considered as long as Ph.D. is completed prior to the position start date).
Five or more years of experience as a working professional in archaeology.
Experience teaching in a university setting.
Research experience in historical archaeology focused on western North America.
Ability to contribute to a joint Ph.D Program in historical archaeology (with the History department).
Experience working with and collaborating with historically under-represented populations.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
