Job Description Summary

The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Auburn University invites applications for a non-tenure track position as Lecturer of Korean and Japanese to begin fall 2024. This is a full-time nine-month position with benefits and possibility of renewal and career advancement by mutual agreement annually, contingent upon availability of funds, enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Teaching load is 4/4 per academic year of mostly language courses with the possibility of one or more classes per year in area of specialization. The candidate should be willing to take part in extra-curricular activities to help promote participation in the Japanese and Korean language programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications include: Masters degree in Japanese or Korean Language, Linguistics, Literature, or related field at the time appointment begins, native or near-native fluency in both Japanese and Korean, teaching experience, positive teaching evaluations, familiarity with current language pedagogy, and willingness to use Canvas course management software.

The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required.

 

Desired Qualifications

PhD in Japanese or Korean Language, Linguistics, Literature, or related field at the time appointment begins.
